Our Mandate
At Extox we know how vital a clean and efficient operation is to the ongoing success of your business. That's why we make impeccable service and effective waste recovery our highest priorities. The exclusive Extox recovery process lifts the tricky burden of waste management from your busy schedule so that you can get on with what you do best - running your business and looking after your customers. By turning your chemical-laden dry cleaning filters into benign scrap metal and returning the recovered fluids for reuse, Extox adds value to your business at every filter change. The net result turns an environmental liability into an asset; a problem into a resource. This kind of win-win situation is an opportunity with benefits we all share. Our Company
Extox was established in 1993 to address the burgeoning waste-management needs of the dry cleaning industry. Specifically, Extox provides an environmentally-responsible means of recovering toxic chemicals such as tetrachloroethylene and perchloroethylene (PERC), from dry cleaning-related hazardous waste streams.
Our Facility
Located in Mississauga, Ontario, the Extox waste treatment facility uses proven, environmentally-sound engineering methods to process chlorinated waste solvents and PERC-contaminated water. Fully permitted by the Ontario Ministry of Environment, the Extox waste processing site meets and exceeds the standards set by Environment Canada to import material for recycling. In fact, it is the only facility in Canada permitted and insured to accept 241H waste.
Our System
Providing the best possible outcome in hazardous waste management, Extox engineering closes the loop in the recycling of used dry cleaning filters. All material that passes through our facility is delisted as a hazardous waste in the process, thus eliminating liability for you, the waste generator. What's more, we recover and return cleaning fluids that you can reuse in your business, thus reducing your operating expenses. This means that previously unwanted products of the waste stream are reborn as valuable, useable resources: PERC solvent is recovered and returned to our clients in the dry cleaning industry, while the cleaned filters are recycled into process material for use in steel mills. This system allows us to recover 100 per cent of the waste we receive for treatment. In effect, Extox provides an unbeatable alternative to conventional hazardous waste management strategies, an alternative that is more environmentally-responsible and more cost-effective than either landfilling or incineration. |
